The Pentax KP has 27 AF points, 25 of which are Cross-type. With the viewfinder there are 3 autofocus types, AF.A, AF.S, and AF.C. A would be used for casual shooting, the camera will decide whether to track a moving object or not, S will not follow a moving object, C will follow a moving object. When using live view (which I do) You have 5 options, You have an option for it to automatically focus on a detected face, to focus on a moving object, there’s a mode where you can set the focus area, and where it just focuses on the middle of the frame, and there is obviously manual focus, which I prefer to use

Since this image was taken using a tripod and the subject wasn’t moving, and I had the time for it, I used manual focus. When using manual focus, you have to be very careful that you set the focus just right, especially in a photo like this one.

For this image I used a single point auto focus, that way I could get my subject in focus, and since it was part of a shoot, I don’t want to waste too much time setting up manual focus.

This photo is a good example of when you could use continuous auto focus. When the subject is in motion it is a good idea to use a focus mode that will change focus depending of movement so that the subject doesn’t move out of the focus range.
