Things to avoid with composition

The first thing to avoid is a closed corner, this is a great photo, but the top left corner feels separate from the photo because it is so different.

The next thing to avoid is a halved shape, this photo is also great but the right droplet is cut off by the frame and makes the image feel incomplete.

Similar to the last, you should avoid fusing shapes with the frame, in this photo the ring is cut off by the frame, and it makes the photo feel incomplete similar to the halved shape.

You also need to watch for the apex of the subjects, in this photo the apex of the main subject and the fountain are on the same level, and it makes the photo feel a little unnatural.

Another thing to be aware of is fused edges, this photo has a lot of fused edges, the rings and coins all fuse together with their shapes to make it feel like one big photo, if you want this it’s great, but if you want the subject to stick out it’s better to avoid.
