Photo Critique – Stock Photograph

Let’s start with what I like about this photo, I love the contrast between the dark background and the bright windows, I also like the very defined lighting, the shadow on the table doesn’t have much space between light and dark, and that makes it feel dramatic.

Now for what I don’t like about the photo, I wish the model’s face was a little more lit up to bring attention to the subject, I would also get rid of the light behind them so there’s more negative space, but I would keep the window in the back because it gives the photo a good sense of repetition.

For stock photography, I don’t know how well this photo would work as a stock photo because if someone were to use it, they would probably use it for a travel photo, and they wouldn’t want the photo to be dramatic, they would want it to be well lit and more a happy feeling, it is a great photo, but I don’t think it would sell well.

This is my stock photo example, I feel like a religious magazine could use this in an article about how the fundamentals of religion is under attack in the modern world
